NEW Referee Course Instructions
Please follow the steps below to get started on your referee journey!
- Go to the US Soccer Learning Center website here and create an account. PLEASE use an email that you will check regularly, as this is typically how you will be notified when you are assigned a game.
- Click on the "Referee Program" tab at the top of the page.
- Hover over the "Courses" drop down menu at the top of the page and click on "Available courses"
- On the left hand side, click on "Grassroot first time referees" and then click on the right "Go to course list" button on the right hand side.
- From here you will click on "course details"
- From here, there will be step by step instructions on how to pay and sign up for a course. All the available courses in the state are listed on the left hand side. The Wisconsin Rapids NEW referee course is being held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran School.
- The following are New referee course requirements:
- Online Referee Course Modules – 4.5 hr.
- First-Time Referee Quiz - 45 mins.
- Laws of the Game Update - 20 mins.
- Field session administered by the State Referee Committee* (In-person class on 2/22/25)
- Background Check (if 18 years or older)*
- SafeSport (if 18 years or older)- 1 hr.
- Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments – 1 hr.
- If you want to continue to be a referee after your first year, you will only be required to take the online re-certification program every year. You do not need to do these same requirements again unless you let your license lapse.
